Tipon Silliman 2019
Tipon Silliman 2019, a Silliman University Alumni Council of North America (SUACONA) bi-annual alumni gathering, brought together over 375 Sillimanians to the shores of the Chesapeake. Host Chesapeake Bay Silliman Alumni (CBSA) President, Mr. Danny Luzada together with Tipon Silliman 2019 Co-Chair, Mr. Adlai J. Amor, welcomed the Tipon participants in the spirit of the original inhabitants of metropolitan Washington, DC – the Piscataway people and their Native Americans, the Anacostank, Pamunkey, Mattapanient, Nangemeick, and Tauxehent. The Marriot Chrystal Gateway Hotel in Arlington, Virginia was the main venue for the 4-day Tipon, August 1 – 4, 2019.
Highlighting the Tipon gathering included: a Continuing Education Workshop: Promoting a Healthier You, with resource speakers, Dr. Lisa Chin, Dr. Annabelle Locsin, Dr. Erwina B. Jalandoni and Dr. Ruel Billiones; a 3-morning, SU Church sa Chesapeake Bay worship service, with guest preachers Rev. Dr. Al B. Fuertes, Rev. Rose Marie Calderon-Khan, and Bishop Melzar Labuntog; a Silliman University Alumni Council of North America (SUACONA) General Assembly; a Potomac Dinner Cruise; a Charity Golf Tournament, and the SUACONA Plenary Session: SU Today and Tomorrow, with guest speakers, Silliman University President, Dr. Betty Cernol McCann and Silliman University Board of Trustee Chair, Mr. Ricardo Balbido, Jr. Silliman University Alumni and External Affairs Director, Mr. Ruben N. Bokingo and Silliman Alumni Association, Inc. (SAAI) Director and Immediate Past President, Atty. Mikhail Lee Maxino also gave their respective alumni updates. The most attended Tipon event was the Fiesta sa Chesapeake and Tipon Gala, where the Oracle Live Band kept guests on the dance floor all night.
Tipon 2021 will be in Boston with alumni chapter Silliman Association of New England (SANE) as host.
