Alumni Update April 24 – 30, 2023
London-based executive pastry chef crafts a royal-themed afternoon tea
Silliman University (SU) alumnus and Royal Lancaster London executive pastry chef Scott Villacora has crafted a menu fit for a king with his team, in celebration of the coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom.
The coronation is set to take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on September 8, 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II. A historic event such as a coronation calls for grand celebrations. Foodies and royal enthusiasts alike can look forward to indulging in a traditional afternoon tea with a royal twist at the Royal Lancaster in London.
Villacora and his team at Royal Lancaster London created a royal-themed afternoon tea menu, available from April 28 to May 9, 2023.
The afternoon tea with a royal twist will include an irresistible assortment of delicately crafted sandwiches, warm baked scones and deliciously royal sweet treats served in the hotel’s beautiful Hyde Café, washed down by a selection of the finest teas and a crisp glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne.
The Royal Lancaster menu has also been featured in The Handbook. An online lifestyle magazine that features food, travel, fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
Villacora was the head pastry chef at Fortnum & Mason where he managed a team of 14 pastry chefs for four years and was responsible for curating the award-winning afternoon tea.
Some chapter members of the SU Alumni Association of the United Kingdom have made reservations at Royal Lancaster Hotel’s Beautiful Hyde Café to indulge in an afternoon tea experience with a royal flare.
Villacora is a champion in delivering British tradition with a twist. He finished high school in 1996 and obtained a degree in Management in 2001, both at SU.
